Import a program from a photo or text
Found a workout on a whiteboard, in a magazine, on a coach's printout or in a screenshot? Take a photo of it, or paste the text, and Liftspan turns it into a program it coaches for you, around your joints and your equipment. You check everything before anything changes.
Import a program
- Sign in, if you are not already. Importing needs an account.
- Open πΊοΈ Plan β Change program, and on the π· Import a program card tap Import a program.
- Tap π· Take or choose a photo, or paste the program into the text box. You can do both. On iPhone, photos need Liftspan 1.0.6 or later; on older versions, paste the text.
- Tap Read my program. It takes a few seconds.
Check your program
The program opens in the builder as Check your program, with a summary at the top: how many lines Liftspan read, how many matched its library, and how many need a look.
- Swapped for your joints: any move that loads a joint you flagged has already been swapped for a named alternative. Tap Keep to use the original instead.
- We could not match: lines Liftspan could not place. Tap a suggestion to add it with that line's sets and reps, or π Find it to search.
- Best guess: moves Liftspan is less sure about are marked, with alternatives and a β That's right button.
- Reps: choose Keep their reps, and Liftspan progresses you inside the program's own rep ranges, or Use Liftspan's ranges for your goal.
- Left out: warm-ups, cardio and anything unreadable.
Pick a save slot and tap Save program. From then on it is a normal saved program: Liftspan sets the weights, moves them up, plans deloads and keeps your streak. Nothing changes until you save.
How many imports
Your first import is free. Pro members get 10 imports a month PRO. An import that fails to read does not use one up.
Privacy
Your photo or text is sent to Liftspan's server and to Anthropic, the AI provider that reads it, only to build the program. It is not kept afterwards. Only import programs you have the right to use.
Common questions
What kinds of programs can it read?
Most strength programs written as exercises with sets and reps, such as "Back squat 3x8" or "DB bench 3x10-12", from photos of whiteboards, printouts, handwriting or screenshots.
What if a move is not in Liftspan's library?
Liftspan suggests the closest matches, or you can search for one. Pro members can also add their own move from the workout screen (βοΈ Use my own move), and it then shows up when you search.
