A faster start: snap your program or answer five questions

1 October 2026 Web and iPhone

Setting up Liftspan now takes about half the taps. Bring a program you already have with a photo, or answer five short questions and Liftspan builds one.

Snap your program or answer five quick questions

How to set up Liftspan. No sound needed: the steps are on screen.
Rather read it? The walkthrough, step by step
  1. Set up Liftspan in about a minute.
  2. No program yet? Tap Answer five quick questions.
  3. Pick what you are here for. It sets your reps and rest.
  4. Pick where you train. Every move will fit that room.
  5. A few numbers, so your starting weights fit you.
  6. Anything to train around? Flag it, and Liftspan works around it.
  7. How many days a week? Tap one and your plan is built.
  8. Your first workout, with every weight filled in.

New lifters now open on Snap your program. Take or choose a photo of a program you already follow, or paste it in, and Liftspan sets it up. If you have no program, tap "Answer five quick questions and Liftspan builds one" instead. Liftspan reads your goal from the program's rep ranges, and you can change it later.

Shorter setup

The five-question path is now goal, where you train, a few numbers about you, anything to work around, and days a week. Tapping an answer moves you on, and tapping your days builds the plan. Less essential questions, like your name and the Fuel tab details, are asked later when they matter.

Your first workout card

Setup now ends on a card showing your first session: the day, each move with its sets, reps and weight, and about how long it will take. Tap "Start, I train at my own risk" to begin, or look at your plan first.

A gentler first session

If you are new or coming back to lifting, your first session runs as straight sets with no supersets, and a short tip shows you how to tick a set and rate it. If you flag a joint, moves that use it are only picked when your room has no other way to train that muscle.
